How to transfer your website to OISSite hosting

The process of changing host providers is simple and can be accomplished with minimal hassle and downtime, provided certain steps are followed. Clients changing hosting service may already be unsatisfied with web hosting, but it is our hope that this guide will serve to a hassle free and more successful web hosting experience moving forward.

  1. Ensure that you have a full copy of your website files, databases, etc. stored on your computer. Download or record any pertinent email address settings, passwords, log file data, statistic reports, etc. from your current host.
  2. Order your new OISSite web hosting service. Save your Order Confirmation, and/or send this email to your web designer.
  3. Using the details provided in the Activation email, upload (using FTP) your website files to your new OISSite hosting, install and configure any databases, scripts, etc. Setup your email accounts.
  4. Modify/Transfer your domain name to use OISSite Hosting's Name Servers:
    • ns3.outsourceis.com
    • ns4.outsourceis.com
    NOTE! In approximately 12-24 hours check your domain name to ensure it is now pointing to OISSite hosting. This step permits us to host your site
  5. Double-check the email settings in your email software to make sure your settings work with the new service.
  6. Cancel service with your previous host provider. Make sure they remove your domain name from their DNS servers.

I've never managed a dedicated server before?
DotNetPanel will make managing your websites on your new dedicated server as easy as managing them in your shared hosting account, but without the limitations. You can add unlimited Websites, Email Accounts and FTP Accounts. If you don't want to log on to the server using Remote Desktop/Terminal Services, you don't have to - simply use DotNetPanel to manage everything.

What about security updates?
Windows Updates will be installed for you automatically.

Are all servers are Internet Ready?
We configure each one of our dedicated servers so that when we hand it over to you, it will be fully updated, fully secure and ready for you to log in to via DotNetPanel.
